Meet the Artist
"I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn't say any other way - things I had no words for." - Georgia O'Keeffe
1997 - This was the year that I graduated from college with a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism and a Minor in Art. Really? A minor in art. Yes. You see, when I started to approach the time to select my specialization in art (junior year), it was strongly suggested by my art professors to select painting and photography, instead of my initial desire for graphic design (because that's where the jobs were, right?). So, after much consideration and midway through my junior year, I made the bold choice to switch my major to Journalism, where I could still apply my photography and illustration skills, and graduate with a degree that might help me get employed. Ironically ... look where I am today.
The Goddard School - Wentzville, MO
2000 - Very first wall mural ever completed.
Me and my boys. They are my world, and my TRUE inspiration.
2000 - My very good friend became pregnant with her first child and asked me to do something I had never attempted before ... paint a large wall mural! I was thrilled, nervous, a bit scared, but excited to complete this project for her and I have to say it was a success! From that day on, many acquaintances approached me to create a one-of-a-kind art piece for them.
2009 - After many years of friends and family telling me I should turn my talent into a business, I finally made the leap and officially started Sweet Dream Murals. While getting my business off the ground, I was also working part-time as a web designer for Lutheran Hour Ministries AND more importantly raising 3 young boys, with the youngest born in 2010! One of my first, and by far the largest projects was for The Goddard School in Wentzville, MO, completed in the summer of 2009.
2011 - This is the year I said good-bye to my office job of 10 years and took Sweet Dream Murals full time. I have never looked back! Each day is a new experience and a chance to create something unique and personal for customers, small and big.
2012 - I decided to take my custom artwork to Etsy and began selling growth charts and name banners, along with the very unique Ultra-Silhouette's (your baby's first painted portrait).
FAST forward to today, Sweet Dream Murals continues to grow everyday with the help of new and returning customers. With well over 100 very unique and specialized murals completed, I am one of the most sought after and successful muralists in the area. I pride myself in customer satisfaction by creating beautiful artwork from my clients' vision and ideas.
